Overcoming apathy: How to research young people and politics

The MRS Delphi Group, a thought leadership collective consisting of market research professionals, is publishing an occasional series of columns on ‘the future of democratic engagement’ to mark the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta.

As part of this, our Senior Researcher Hannah Wright was delighted to be asked to reflect on the challenges of studying young people’s apathy towards modern politics – much of which, she argues, is down to methodologies and recruitment strategies which simply don’t reflect young lives as they are really lived.
